A couple of weeks ago, the family and I headed south to McKinney to visit the Heard Natural Science Museum & Wildlife Sanctuary. We enjoyed several aspects and I can't wait to go back with our son to see the mechanical dinosaurs in action when it gets a little cooler. But, my favorite part had to be the butterfly garden. There is something so wonderful about quietly approaching a flower with a butterfly perched on top, waiting to get a good shot, and then knowing that you have successfully blended into the background because the butterfly is still sitting there.
Capturing these quiet moments in nature is absolutely one of my favorite parts of photography. Close to meditation, you know with a 4 year old running in the middle of it. But whenever we head back, you can bet I will have my camera with me.
