Today, we're going to take a little detour away from photography and talk about something a little different. But a lot more important.

I have a degree in Criminal Justice. While pursuing that degree I began to learn about the topic of human trafficking. Specifically the trafficking that takes place across the Mexico/Texas border. Of course, this isn't an issue that just affects my neck of the woods. It is global. And it is devastating.

This year I have decided to join a team and participate in an organization called Dressember. I am one person. I alone cannot change the atrocities that happen in this world. But, I can decide to participate with women across the world to have a HUGE impact against this issue.

For the entire month of December, I am committing to wearing a dress. I will create a capsule wardrobe of sorts with 5-7 dresses and other warm weather clothing that I will wear for the month, rain or shine, cold or warm. I will wear a dress.

Can a dress change the world?

Dressember says YES!! "The dress is our uniform, the flag of our movement. Dressember is an opportunity to reclaim and reappropriate the dress as a symbol of freedom and power; a flag for the inherent dignity of all people."

Ready to help?

1. ALL Lauren Hummert Photography sessions scheduled for the months of November and December 2017, 50% of the session fee will be donated to the Dressember campaign. This applies to any session that I have listed. Bonus: wear a dress and/or tie in the session and I will credit $50 toward your next session in 2018!!!

2. Join the movement. Join a team (like the one I'm part of) or create your own page and start advocating. Men and women can participate (men commit to wearing a tie/bow tie for the month).

3. Donate directly. If you want to donate directly to the campaign, you can do that through my page right here.

I will be continuing this discussion for the next 2 months with more information including what dresses I will be wearing for the month. But if you are ready to help me take a stand against human trafficking, then lets work together. Sign up for a session with me and help rescue someone from acts that should never happen to anyone.

xo, Lauren
